Ways to Relieve a Hangover

So you’ve overindulged and now you’re paying the price! We’ve all been there and when good friends, a lovely atmosphere, rich food and alcohol are combined, a sore head and upset stomach are likely to be your only concerns the morning after!

Taking steps to reduce the effect of over-indulgence, followed by a soothing natural remedy, will help relieve the worst of your symptoms. So follow our top tips for avoiding that ‘morning after’ feeling and reducing the pain of a hangover:

Be Prepared
When you know you’re likely to overindulge, prepare for it in advance and you’ll thank yourself in the morning!  Drink plenty of water during the day and some milk before you go out.  The fats in the milk will help to protect the lining of your stomach.  Also eating a light meal like cheese on toast will help you feel less hungry and consequently means that you are less likely to drink or eat too much later on.

Don’t Mix It Up
Sticking to one type of drink all evening will often help keep things manageable the next day, so choose your tipple and stick with it.  This approach also means that the chances of being tempted by the cream liqueur ice luge or Tequila shots will reduce significantly, which can only be a good thing!

Pace Yourself
Once you’re enjoying yourself, it’s all too easy to get carried away and forget to drink water too.  Many of the worst hangover symptoms are caused by dehydration, so keep your fluid levels topped up with still water throughout the evening and your headache will be far less vicious the next day.

Recovery
