Making It Easier to Use Nature to Fight Colds & Flu
We’ve been selling our HRI Cold and Flu Echinacea tablets very successfully for decades, so why have we launched a second traditional herbal medicine product designed to relieve the symptoms of colds and flu?
Brigitte Flower, Sales & Marketing Director for HRI Herbal Medicine, explains.
When we looked into which natural products people choose to help reduce the severity of a cold or flu, or to head-off catching one, it was clear that the favourite natural remedies for colds are:
- Echinacea tablets – a herb traditionally used to help fight colds for centuries.
- Vitamin C – the vitamin used to support a normal immune system and associated with reducing fatigue and tiredness.
- Zinc – an essential mineral which supports a variety of enzymes connected with a healthy immune system.
In the past, this has meant that people have had to buy three different products, from different suppliers, often with different recommended doses, and governed by different sets of regulations.
Confusing and complicated!
HRI Coldcare Combines Echinacea, Vitamin C and Zinc in One Licensed Product
That’s why we decided to develop HRI Coldcare to combine all the UK’s favourite natural remedies to head off cold and flu in one tablet. The new natural medicine was released to retailers in summer 2018 and went on sale online and in high street health food shops, chemists and supermarkets from 1st October.
Each HRI Coldcare tablet contains extract from Echinacea purpurea root, plus Vitamin C (as Ascorbic Acid) and Zinc (as Zinc Gluconate). A daily dose of two tablets provides 100% of the recommended daily amount (RDA) of Vitamin C and Zinc.
After rigorous testing, HRI Coldcare achieved approval under the THR scheme run by the national regulator, the Medicines and Healthcare Products Regulatory Agency (MHRA). This means that consumers now have one reliable and trusted natural medicine to help fight colds and flu, rather than having to buy separate products.
Reassurance for Consumers
We have always strongly believed that it is important for people to know that they are getting the exact ingredients they expect in a natural medicine. The THR logo signifies that a licensed product contains what it says it does; that the ingredients are high quality and safe, and will remain stable when stored in their bathroom cabinet at home.
Gaining THR approval requires huge amounts of time, energy, investment and commitment over very many years, but we wouldn’t be happy to launch a new herbal medicine without it. In fact, HRI Herbal Medicine was one of the first UK suppliers to gain THR licenses for its entire range and remains one of very few companies that only sells licensed products.
We’re very proud to add HRI Coldcare to our range of herbal medicines. It is available to buy in Sainsbury, Asda, Morrisons, Holland Barrett, Superdrug and from our own HRI Herbal Medicine Online Shop.
We hope it helps keep you free from colds and flu-free this winter!
